The AVI project reference list

The AVI project was commissioned by the Italian Department of Civil Protection to the National Group for Prevention of Hydrological Hazards (GNDCI - Gruppo Nazionale per la Difesa dalle Catastrofi Idrogeologiche), of the Italian National Research Council (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche - CNR). The goal of the project was the inventory of the areas affected by landslides and floods in Italy, in the 20^th Century. The archive contains information on about 1950 publications and reports on landslides and inundations.

In spite of the limitations due to the complexity of the Italian territory, the different awareness of the impact of landslides and floods on the territory, and the limited resources available for the inventory and its maintenance, the result of the inventory represents the most comprehensive source of information on mass-movements and floods for the 20th Century ever prepared for Italy.
